Living with Brain Fog Symptoms
Living with Brain Fog Symptoms

Living with Brain Fog Symptoms needs to be understood. Brain fog is a condition that makes it difficult to think clearly and focus. The usual symptoms include difficulty concentrating, memory problems, confusion, and a general feeling of mental fatigue or sluggishness.

Brain Fog and Vestibular Migraines

Brain Fog and migraines are considered two separate conditions. In my experience brain fog usually appears before and after an attack. Painly explained the feeling I have is like watching life through a glass filled with water.

Causes

  • Hormonal changes: menopause or pregnancy hormonal changes.
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome: persistent fatigue, sleep disturbances, and cognitive problems, usually driven by frequent migraine attacks.
  • Thyroid disorders: The thyroid gland plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism and energy levels, and an imbalance in thyroid hormones can affect brain function and cause fog brain.
  • Dehydration: causes fatigue, confusion, and difficulty concentrating.
  • Nutritional deficiencies: a lack of essential nutrients, such as vitamin B12.
  • Stress and anxiety: can take a toll on the brain, leading to cognitive problems and brain fog.
  • Lack of Sleep: not enough, too much or poor sleep quality can cause fatigue and cognitive problems.

Symptoms

  • Difficulty concentrating: hard to focus and pay attention.
  • Memory problems: inability to recall information or remember appointments and tasks.
  • Confusion: also disorientation, issues understanding or processing information.
  • Mental Fatigue: or exhaustion coupled with a feeling of sluggishness or apathy.

Tips to alleviate condition

  • Getting enough sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep every night.
  • Staying hydrated: Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water per day.
  • Exercise regularly: Try 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise, such as brisk walking or cycling, on most days of the week.
  • Eating a healthy diet: A diet that is high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can help to support brain health and improve cognitive function.
  • Managing stress and anxiety: consider stress-management techniques such as meditation, yoga, and mindfulness.
  • Identifying and avoiding triggers: If you have a condition that causes brain fog, like migraines, it’s important to identify and avoid triggers that can cause an attack.
  • Vitamin Supplements: supplements such as omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, and B-vitamins have been found to be beneficial in treating brain fog.

Lastly don’t forget to keep a journal and try to include all necessary information so you know what works and what doesn’t.
