Amazing Benefits of Good Sleep Habits
Sleep Benefits

Amazing Benefits of Good Sleep Habits are great tools to manage migraine attacks and their severity. Migraines and sleep are closely related, as sleep disturbances can be both a trigger and a symptom of migraine.

In this blog post, we will discuss the relationship between migraine and sleep, as well as strategies for managing the two conditions together.

Migraine is a chronic neurological condition characterized by recurrent headaches, often accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Sleep disturbances, including insomnia and poor sleep quality, are common among individuals with migraine. In fact, research has shown that individuals with migraine are two to three times more likely to experience insomnia compared to those without migraine.

Sleep disturbances can also be a trigger for migraine. Lack of sleep, irregular sleep patterns, and poor sleep quality can all contribute to the development of migraine. Stress and tension, which are known triggers for migraine, can also be caused by sleep disturbances.

Good Sleep Habits

The most important habit is to establish a regular sleep schedule. This means going to bed and waking up at the same time each day, and aiming for at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night. It’s also important to create a relaxing bedtime routine, such as reading or listening to calming music, to help prepare the body and mind for sleep. I would suggest absolutely NO screen time at least 1 hour before bed.

Other strategies are:

  • Avoiding caffeine anytime after 4pm
  • Avoiding heavy meals, especially those that are high in tyramine, after 7pm to allow time to digest c
  • Using a comfortable mattress and pillow
  • Creating a cool (17C is my recommendation), make it dark, and quiet (or use soft meditation music)
  • Practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or yoga (bed yoga is very useful)

It’s also important to consult with a healthcare professional if you are experiencing sleep disturbances, as they can help determine the underlying cause and provide treatment options such as medication or cognitive behavioral therapy.

Amazing Benefits of Good Sleep Habits are important to master and bring under control. Lack of sleep is my main trigger therefore it has become my main focus. By taking care of your sleep, you can help improve the number of migraine attacks, severity and even duration.
